I.        I.          BASIC INFORMATION ABOUT THE TRAINING PROGRAM

Aim of the training program

The program of Bachelor’s in Business Law aims to provide fundamental legal and economic knowledge and systematical legal thinking; to provide in-depth knowledge on regulations of domestic and international commercial environment. It also provides professional competence to students for their career or for higher education.

The standard output of the training program

Knowledge and professional competence

1. Understand and apply in practice the system of scientific knowledge of basic Principles of Marxism-Leninism, ideological, moral, and cultural values of Ho Chi Minh, fundamentals of the Revolutionary Policies of Vietnam Communist Party; shape the worldview and methodology for students when approaching and analyzing modern issues of State and Law;

2. Apply the fundamental knowledge of social science and natural sciences to solve theoretical and practical issues related to the training program;

3. Apply the basic knowledge in the field of theoretical and historical issues of State and Law, Constitutional law, Administrative law as well the basic knowledge of Economics in solving theoretical and practical issues related to the training program;

4. Apply the basic knowledge of legal science in the branches of law such as civil law, marriage and family law, criminal law, commercial law, public international law, private international law, etc. in identifying and solving professional issues in practical works;

5. Understand and apply specialized legal knowledge by sector in the field of business law such as the law on business organization, the law on contracts, labor law, land law, environmental law, finance, banking, insurance law, competition law, etc. to solve specific legal issues that arise in commercial activities;

6. Acquire systematic legal thinking to identify and to solve complex legal issues in commercial activities;

7. Apply knowledge in practice to initially familiarize with future professions and adapt to changes in work environment.

8. Acquire skills in foreign language at the third level according to the 6-level foreign language competence framework for Vietnam.

Competence of self-control and responsibility

9. Self-direct and adapt to different work environment; self-study, accumulate knowledge and experience to improve professional qualifications;

10. Acquire in-depth knowledge in the educated field in working institutions, can make accurate professional conclusions and defend those conclusions;

11. Plan, organize, manage, supervise the implementation of a practical specific task; promote collective intelligence in workplace; fundamentally competent in management and leadership;

12. Work independently or cooperate in teamwork, complete tasks logically, creatively and be responsible for the outcomes of their work; fundamentally competent in creativity and development skills in the profession;

13. Recognize, analyze and evaluate legal issues properly;

14. Acquire the skills of researching and applying legal documents, normative law, customary commercial  rules to solve practical issues;

15.  Acquire basic competence in forming and managing a company;

16. Acquire initial competence in negotiating, concluding and performing contracts and commercial agreements;

17. Acquire competence in resolving commercial disputes;

18. Be initially capable of providing independent consultancy in business law cases (companies, banks, insurance, tax, auditing, securities, finance, resources, environment, intellectual property, etc.);

19. Be initially capable of identifying and using appropriate tools and methods to manage business risks;

20. Acquire competence to complete complex tasks that require theoretical and practical knowledge application of the training program; acquire competence in analyzing, synthesizing, evaluating data and information, and synthesizing collective opinions;

21. Acquire competence in applying research results related to business law into practice;

22. Be capable of summarizing professional practical experience on the basis of knowledge already equipped;

23. Acquire competence in communication and presentation;

24. Be capable of presenting research results and writing scientific reports;

25.  Acquire competence in researching information in work and life;

26. Acquire competence in adapting to the changes of domestic and international work environment;

27. Acquire competence in evaluating their work and their team members’ when performing a common task;

28. Use foreign language proficiently, in particular specialized language ;

29. Use computers and some common office software proficiently.

- Be proactive, confident in work, dare to take responsibility, boldly express their views and know how to listen to others.

- Fully demonstrate the necessary professional ethical qualities of a lawyer: respect and comply with the law, protect justice, brave, honest and impartial.

- Protect public interests, contribute to an equitable, democratic and civilized society.

Employment can undertake after graduation

- Group 1: Work for domestic or international enterprises in various sectors of business;

- Group 2: Work as independent lawyers or in law firm and legal consulting centers;

- Group 3: Work in legislative, administrative, or judicial agencies of the state apparatus from central to local levels, political, socio-political and professional organizations;

- Group 4: Work for non-governmental organizations, intergovernmental organizations, and international organizations;

- Group 5: Work as researcher and lecturer in business law at institutes, research centers, universities, colleges, and vocational schools.

Teaching, learning, and evaluation strategy

On the training methods

- Lecturers combine the use of modern teaching methods, in accordance with the credit training method and CDIO approach to help students achieve the standard output of the module and the general standard output of the training program;

- Consider students the center of the training process to promote their autonomy. Lecturers must strengthen the role of organization, guidance, orientation and control in learning activities, creative thinking activities and skill training for students in order to actively acquire knowledge and accomplish main targets required by the training program;

- Strengthen active teaching methods to raise self-awareness in learning, self-study capacity; develop creative thinking, practice professional skills, improve teamwork skills, skills of finding, assessing information, presenting and discussing; focus on training self-study methods to create habits, passion and learning ability;

- Promote extracurricular activities, internship programs, and practical experience in the training process to provide practical knowledge for students.

On the learning methods

- Students need to enhance self-study and teamwork;

- Students create their own learning schedule accordingly, and must learn as a desire to explore and have academic passion; learn to understand; learn to self-study; learn to acquire practical skills and practical attitudes in future career; learn to acquire creative, active and independent attitudes in awareness and action;

- Students have to acquire the competence of using modern technology equipment, foreign language, information technology to support their learning.

One the examination and evaluating methods

- Examination and evaluation include: Evaluating students by input results; Evaluating students’ academic progress through a score/chart/learning profile matrix stating students’ abilities and through training programs designed based on outputs; Final evaluation of students’ graduation;

- Lecturers need to use different methods of examination and evaluation in accordance with the module outline for regular assessment, mid-term examination, and evaluation of the end of the module. The scope and indicators of assessment plans must be clear and disseminated to all related subjects. Standards applied in assessment plans must be transparent and consistent throughout the training program;

- Functional units apply appropriate procedures to ensure valid, reliable, and equal examination and evaluating plans.

Guide to the implementation of the program

The training program at the bachelor’s degree in Business Law is applied for candidates who have passed the annual university entrance exam to VNU.

Students entering the program will be introduced to the entire curriculum at the start of the course and will also be instructed to register the selected modules.

On the basis of the approved training program, the Department of Education and Training develop a study schedule for the entire course, including the schedules for each class, each course with the course list of each semester according to the order of the training program. The study plan for each school year is published on the following channels: VNU (for report); the Board of Faculty; Relevant units in VNU; Units of the Faculty; Head Lecturers of classes; Classes of students; Website of the Faculty.

The departments assign lecturers for classes according to the study schedule of the school year and propose exam forms. Dean of the Department decides the form of examination.

After completing all the modules of all knowledge blocks in the training program, students will be awarded a bachelor’s degree in Business Law signed by the President of VNU.
